- Provide Expectations- Children are naturally curious, active and eager to try new things, bring the excitement of their new play area.
- Don’t rush through the morning -Your child will get nervous seeing anxiety on your face.
- Arrive fashionably early- This will give your child ample time to settle in before the real action starts. He will also get accustomed with the new faces.
- Put on a happy face- This will comfort your child and give him courage to explore the new zone.
- When you enter the classroom, reintroduce the teacher to your child, and then step back to allow the teacher to begin forming a bond with your child. Your endorsement of the teacher will show your child that he will be happy and safe in the teacher’s care.
- Hang around but don’t hover- As your child feels more secure, gradually melt to the background and let the teacher take over.
- Keep Goodbye short and sweet- Do not sneak. Leaving without saying goodbye may make kids feel abandoned, whereas a long farewell scene might only serve to reinforce a child’s sense that preschool is a bad place.
