The toddler years are both terrific and trying! At FirstCry Intellitots Preschool, we believe that early learning goes well beyond childhood. It is not just an opportunity to teach, it is an opportunity to educate children for life. Toddlers are encouraged to participate in pre-nursery activities which focus on the child’s primary areas of development such as:

Fine Motor Skills Development

The use of the smaller muscles of the hand such as fingers allows control over actions such as picking/placing and holding objects. From flipping the pages of a book, doodling lines and circles, to eating with a spoon, simple, fun and engaging activities strengthen the hand and finger muscles easing day-to-day tasks for the child.

Gross Motor Skills Development

Physical skills involving the use of large muscles such as limbs are essential for body awareness & balance, posture and movement. Through inviting yet challenging activities like dancing to rhymes, hopping and playing physical games, children are nurtured with the strength and endurance required to ace everyday activities.

Personal, Socio-emotional Skill Development

Big emotions can overwhelm little ones, exercising control over these allows them to relate and connect with their surroundings. By encouraging expression of needs and peer interaction, essential skills such as forming friendships and empathizing with others, are nurtured.

Cognitive Skills Development

The ability to learn, acquire knowledge, imitate, respond to words, identify items and make sense of things, stems from cognitive development. Activities ranging from sorting, matching and rhymes to probing questions and conversations, creating make-believe stories and identifying patterns, lay the foundation for early cognitive development.
