A first-aid kit is a necessity in every home especially when you have kids. Small children are generally prone to allergies, falls and bruises. Having a well-stocked first aid kit will help you tackle minor injuries and illness.
Prerequisites:
- Keep it out of children’s reach
- Keep a check on expiry of medicines
- Keep a manual to know your medicine. And make sure that your kid’s caretaker understands the usage.
- Keep it in a central location such that it is within reach

- An infant/child thermometer
- Tweezers for removing splinters
- Disposable cold pack for applying to bruises
- Flashlight for checking sore throats
- An antiseptic solution (like hydrogen peroxide) for sterilizing the equipments

Medication:
- Bandage for wound protection
- Antiseptic wipes to clean cuts and scrapes
- Antibacterial cream for applying to cuts after cleansing
- Antihistamine (like Benadryl) to soothe allergic reaction to a wound
- Calamine lotion for soothing the itch of insect bites
- Rehydration fluids (like Pedialyte) to treat dehydration
- Gauze for dressing wounds
- Sterile cotton balls for wiping bleeding bruises.
If you need a mobile first aid, simply transfer few essentials in a zip-lock bag. Make sure you have pain reliever, bandage, thermometer, calamine, antibacterial cream in the kit. So, you have your first aid kit wherever you go.
